Today is an odd day for me. I’m lying on my back, with a one year old boy sleeping on my chest as I write this (and people think I can’t multitask????;)
The youngest wasn’t feeling well, and I am taking the day away from my day job to be with him while he’s healing up. One opportunity it’s provided me, was I get to have some great one on one time with him, the other, is that I just finished a great book, that I think everyone should read ( Well, everyone with the intention of getting better at something in life.)
“Tools of Titans” by Tim Ferris is a book that no matter what you paid for it, it likely wasn’t enough. It’s worth that much. If you’re familiar with Tim, his books, or his podcasts, you’ll have heard/seen some of the tips and tactics laid out in this book. But I promise, you’ll be happy to have them in print. There are no “deep dives” into any one thing, by any one person, so the book can be read non sequentially, which is great. My personal recommendation is that you DO read it sequentially first, Then go back to the parts that really hit home for you. But like Cal Fussman tells Tim in the book, “The Good Shit Sticks”, so my hope is that some of the good shit from the book will take you to another level, or remind you to enjoy the ride, as none of us are guaranteed a long life.
So, even though I’m tired from my son not sleeping well, I’m going to remember him sleeping on my chest today while I write this, and even just having a home to do this in, and the opportunity to read a great book. A privilege denied to many. It won’t be forever that I get to do this, and this is the good shit. And “the good shit sticks.”
