This newsletter is bound and determined to give it’s readers items that are worth the time!
Here. They. Are.
Music and Albums: “AC/DC – Live – 1991 ( Collector’s Edition).” Easy to look past this one. AC/DC comes with connotations and assumptions; some earned and warranted. But if that’s where you’re starting from, you’d miss one of the world’s most popular bands at their sonic and commercial peak, giving all they had. From the slow open of “Thunderstruck” to the closer of “For those about to rock, we salute you”, you’ll be reminded why Malcolm & Angus Young deserve statues ( with guitars draped over them, of course) for creating simple, in your face, Rock N Roll.

Podcast: The Operator – With Rob O’Neill – SEAL Team 6 Member who killed Osama Bin Laden, and was present for other famous American missions like helping rescue “Lone Survivor” Marcus Luttrell, and extracting Captain Philips from Somali Pirates. Those stories, and tons more are weaved in with practical advice on how to operate in life.

Book: 48 Laws of Power – Robert Greene. This book has sold over 1.2M copies in the US alone. That means that there’s another 257M people that still NEED to read it. Unapologetic reality about how power is gained and lost throughout history, and the methods that are obvious in today’s society ( see below for more examples).

Article: Much was made about “Russian Collusion” in the 2016 election, but it would appear that’s nothing compared to what homegrown Twitter did in the years that followed. Since Elon Musk purchased Twitter, he’s made many controversial ( if not hypocritical) moves. One, was to have journalists Bari Weiss and Matt Taibbi uncover just some of Twitter’s past sins, including the banning of accounts at the request of powerful people in Washington DC & elsewhere ( didn’t hurt that the staff was 97% of the Left political persuasion) shadow banning of some and amplification of others. Twitter’s past employees confirmed the activities: “We control visibility quite a bit. And we control the amplification of your content quite a bit. And normal people do not know how much we do.” This type of power should make people’s skin crawl, but it’s gone largely unnoticed ( intentionally, by those who benefited from it). Take a look at Bari Weiss’ article “Twitter’s Secret Blacklists, decide for yourself. https://www.thefp.com/p/twitters-secret-blacklists
Random Thought: “Male privilege” gets thrown around a lot. It’s weird, because if you’re ever up really really early, or really really late – look at who is building the houses in the freezing cold on a Saturday – Look who is in that bucket truck tending the electrical lines in shit conditions- look who is taking that house call from the family whose pipes burst in the middle of the night – It’s overwhelmingly men who are doing this work while the laptop class bitches about “equity.”
Solid Thought: Around 3/4 of the population is overweight or obese. Lilly just announced that they’re doubling down on efforts for an obesity drug. When your target market is damn near everyone, that’s hard to argue with from a business strategy standpoint. However…. There is a free way to handle tackle this obesity problem with relative ease ( some won’t like)… it’s called a caloric deficit, and it’s completely free. We should be encouraging our citizens to live their life in such a manner that Lilly never sees a dime of their money. The alternative is more expensive and fraught with misery along the way. Discipline works – always has. That’s why it’s a time honored method of improvement.
Until next time….
